How Easy Social Networking Some Tips For Your Nonprofit Organization?

A New Attitude Social networks provide an excellent environment to promote awareness of your group, events or ministry. However, if you use social networking as a way to advertise rather than to connect, you're not going to have the success you could. Advertisement style posts with urgent language such as "Register Now," or "Get Your Ticket Now," or "We Need Your Help," have, in my experience, less and less effectiveness when it comes to drawing people into the great event I am planning. Also, listing the time, date and location is just not enough. In other words, a shift in thinking is necessary away from newsletter style copy, or church bulletin style announcements and towards something more social, more personal, more connecting. In other words, you have to develop a new attitude towards how you use social networking: make it personal. Tell The Story So don't bombard your intended audience with facts or a flurry of advertisements. They

The Five Tips To Writing Your First Song

This is not intended to be an article about how professional songwriters do it. It is here to inspire you to have a go. 1. Choose a subject you are passionate about. As an example I deliver Socks and Chocolates (and sleeping bags for that matter) to the homeless in The West Midlands, UK. I am passionate about the plight of the homeless as I read somewhere that 70% of the homeless in GB are ex-servicement. This is appalling! So I decide to write a song about it. Your song is unlikely to become the next "Angels" by Robbie so you must be content at enjoying the writing process. 2. Play around with your instrument of choice - Mine is a guitar. You need to play around with some chords. To do this, have a listen to lots of different songs and see which ones resonate well with you. You can then consider the style of the song you wish to create. It is fine to imitate your heroes but please do not copy them. You are your own artist. 3. Choose your chord progression. Do

Quite Exclusive The Writer's Life

Next to the defeated politician, the writer is the most vocal and inventive attention holder in the world. He sees hardships and unfairness, wherever he looks. There are many common complaints of a working writer but I believe the most lifelong horrifying expense involved in the writer's life is in getting out the words. Creativity can have its own reward, but it doesn't pay the rent. A blank paper is the writer's greatest enemy. It may come as a surprise to many of you who assume that a writer's tools are limited to paper, pencils and a cup of tea and may be a tweed sport coat for interviews, but it is much beyond that. The problem from which all other problems arise is that writing takes up the time that could otherwise be spent earning a living, A beggar on the street seeing a writer shuffling towards him would dig deep into his rags to see if he can spare him a dime. The bank officer in the bank would hide under his desk to avoid getting the eye contact to th

For Author of Hitler's Silver Box

A board-certified internist, Dr. Allen Malnak served as chief of medicine at Fort Sill, OK, and was medical director of a number of organizations, including the Emergency Department of Chicago's Mount Sinai Hospital. During his long medical career in the Chicago area, he was also a clinical investigator in liver disease as well as an assistant clinical professor at the Stritch School of Medicine, and a practicing internist. Following retirement, he and his wife Patricia moved to Bonita Springs, Florida. His interest in the Holocaust was sparked by the fact that all the men, women and children of his father's large Lithuanian family were sent to a death camp by the Nazis and murdered. Thanks for this interview and congratulations on the release of your suspense thriller, Hitler's Silver Box. What compelled you to write this story? When my father came to America in 1906 at age 16, he had only one distant relative in this country. He left behind in Kovno, Lithuania a larg

Freedom and Creativity of Women in Virginia Woolf

The central point of Woolf's A Room of One's Own is that every woman needs freedom-something men are able to enjoy without question. To create something women must be free financially as well as from all kinds of prejudices. Therefore, the room of women stands for many larger issues, such as privacy, leisure, and financial independence. Not only economic facts but also she emphasizes on an unprejudiced state of mind of women to show creativity. A room of one's own is a mighty proposition for women's independence in creative endeavors. In the past women were not allowed into particular universities and libraries-let alone given the opportunity to creatively express themselves. We will analyze Woolf's insight towards the necessity of financial freedom of women first in the essay. For this, Woolf gives reference to the history where women had no money of their own. She gives information how the buildings of Oxford University have been constructed. When the age of fa

How Quest for Identity in The Bluest Eye?

Influence of Afro-American Folklore on Toni: There is a great influence of Afro-American Folklore on Toni. The Afro-American Folklore is the basis for Morrison's fiction, as for most Black American Literature. Themes like the quest for identity, freedom, the nature of evil and the powerful verses of the powerless became themes of Afro-American literature. This folklore encapsulates the history of Black and White interaction in the United States and also epitomizes the sentiments expressed in the Protest Literature. In her novels, she goes much deeper into the very roots of racism, sexism, and classism and exposes the ideological basis of these pernicious social evils. Introduction to 'The Bluest Eye': The Bluest Eye is Toni Morrison's first novel, a book heralded for its richness of language and boldness of vision. Set in the author's girlhood hometown of Lorain Ohio, it tells the story of black eleven year old Pecola Breedlove. Pecola praised for her eyes to t

How Famous Female British Authors?

Many groundbreaking and influential female authors hail from Great Britain. From Jane Austen to Virginia Woolf, these authors demonstrated to the world that women were just as creative, intelligent and talented as any man. Although writing was once considered an unsuitable and distasteful profession for women, these women broke down the barriers barring women from the writing profession and bravely paved the way for thousands of future female authors. Jane Austen Jane Austen was born December 16, 1775 in Hampshire. The daughter of a rector, Jane Austen took an interest in writing at a young age. Her earliest known writings date back to 1787, when Austen was just 12 years old. Having grown up among the landed gentry in the English countryside, her many novels take place in that setting. Although she never married, Austen wrote many stories about young independent women struggling to find love and a husband who will respect them. Some of her most famous works include "Sense and

4 Gifts for Aria in Book Review

It happened in that August 2011, I needed to read an antique thriller. Searching, then I stumbled upon this beautifully illustrated cover, Four Gifts for Aria, Ebook written by Joshua Graham. Since, in my case I have learnt not to prejudge a book by its low price, I therefore latched onto it to satisfy my curiosity of the theme, that is, what gifts, by whom, and why? After reading, I was able to get the three answers. Below, I have tried to state them for your pleasure. What gifts? On pages 13 and 14 of the book, Aria, a teenage girl, said she wanted a horse ride, a puppy, a sail and a dance with a prince. Gifted by whom? If you followed from the above, then there appeared the next question, that is, who was she expecting them from? Pitiably, the task of bringing the gifts fell upon the shoulders of one stylishly funny sixteen-year-old boy called Nicholas. He really had much to bear. First, he needed to survive in Huntington Manor. The narration began thus, "When first I ar

Why Price Not A Constraint For A Bookworm?

People read for different reasons. Some read because they like to, some read out of habit and for some it is a compulsion. Those who fall in the first category are avid readers form whom reading may be a hobby or even a passion. Those in the second category are the people who need their daily dose of news and for which they religiously read newspapers and magazines. Finally, comes the third group of people who invariably tend to be students, who feel reading course books are boring and dry. Regardless of the group to which a person belongs, one has to buy books and read them. Books of any type or of any genre provide its readers knowledge. Of course, when one reads for recreation one tends to enjoy more than when it is under compulsion. However, even among ardent readers, the question of best books is highly varied. Book Review of Baratunde Thurston's Book

I just finished reading Baratunde Thurston's new book, How To Be Black. Baratunde is a comedian, director of digital for The Onion, and as he says, has over thirty years of experience being black. The book takes a humorous, satirical approach to the topic of race, and the many roles that black people take on, and how best to perform those roles. For example, you'll find chapters on: How To Be The Black Friend, How To Speak For All Black People, and How To Be The Black Employee. Baratunde also comprised a panel of seven writers, comedians, and artists, called, The Black Panel,in an effort to hear from other voices on the subject of race, and being black in this supposed post-racial era. (While six of the panelists are black, one of the panelists is actually a white Canadian guy, and the author of the book, Stuff White People Like) Interwoven with the How-To Chapters is Baratunde's personal story of growing up in Washington D.C. with an inspiring, single Pan-African mo

Book Review For Resisting the Green Dragon

I first encountered the Green Dragon on a blog post by Publius Redux where he introduced it with: "Now, here is a novel analysis of the undercurrent of urgency and irrationality characteristic of climate doomsayers' prophecy. This explains the haunting familiarity of the preaching and proselytizing we have endured from the climate change fearmongers." Curious, I tracked down an article about Resisting the Green Dragon by Dr. James Wanliss, Associate Professor of Physics at Presbyterian College. Finding no religious or scientific arguments that could possibly address the issues in the article, I wrote a play about what the future might hold for Dr. Wanliss, Publius and their followers.Sometime later I received a critique of my play from Dr. Wanliss and subsequently offered to write a proper review if Dr. Wanliss would send me a copy, which he did. Dr. Wanliss said he wrote the book in part because he had been bullied by environmentalists. That is certainly a very bad thin

And I know, because not only have my kids read and delighted in them, I have too. 1) Percy Jackson and the Olympians and The Kane Chronicles by Rick Riordan: Rick Riordan presents an interesting twist on the old Greek and Egyptian mythologies in his two series. The main characters of Riordan's stories discover that they are children of, or can channel, the Gods. Because of their abilities they face many enemies out to destroy them. And ultimately, it is up to them to lead many quests to help win the battle between good and evil. 2) The InkHeart Trilogy by Cornelia Funke: Anyone who has ever become immersed in a book, or dreamt of joining their favorite characters, will love the InkHeart series. What Hunger Games New Ditz Lit Champ?

With the success of the Hunger Games movie, and the resultant surge in the sale of the books, we are reminded once again of the dominance of Ditz Lit in the publishing market. Ditz Lit takes many shapes and forms with some of the most popular ones being, paranormal romance, urban fantasy, and YA dystopian. The primary defining characteristic of Ditz Lit is the painfully obvious manner in which it elicits emotion from its readers. All characters and situations are made as simple as possible so as to maximize emotional response, especially those of fear and anger. It is ideally tailored for the emotionally over-reactive teen reader. Ditz Lit has always been with us and has always been a large and lucrative market. What's changed recently has been the takeover of this sector by the teenage consumer. Success in this genre is now most easily achieved by reflecting a teen worldview, which often involves portraying teens as innocent victims and adults as merciless villains. There is

How A New Frog Species From Western Ghats?

Salamanders, frogs and toads are the important members of this class loaded with magnificent features that enable these creatures to survive in diverse array of environments. Frogs and toads are very closely related but have striking differences. The purple frog is an astounding species of frog placed in the family Sooglossidae. Scientifically this species is known as Nasikabatrachus sayhyadrensis which prefers to dwell in the Western Ghats of India. The common names of this frog are purple frog, Indian purple frog and pignose frog. The frog has been discovered recently in October 2003 by S.D. Biju and F. Bossyut. This species is very remarkable among all the species of animals inhabiting Western Ghats. Its closest relatives are Seychelles and it is believed that Nasikabatrachus sayhyadrensis have evolved separately for the millennia. Its evolution provides strong evidence to the clue that Madagascar and Seychelles got separated from the Indian landmass when Gondwanaland started separ

A Place Called Hell And It Really Exists

This book is a frightening account given by a man called Bill Wiese who was plunged into Hell by The Almighty at 3:00 a.m. in the morning and experienced what it is like in this place. It was for 23 minutes only but that was enough time for him to be moved to try and get his message across to as many people as he could to avoid it at all costs. He reveals that Hell is located 3,700 miles within the earth's structure towards the planet's core. It is populated by demonic creatures who want to torment spirits condemned there for the rest of eternity. These demons have a hatred for both God and man alike. The man emphasises the horribleness of the Lake Of Fire and what goes on there. His personal testimony is of being in a cell getting beaten up by large beasts where God only allowed him to partially feel the physical pain. The next experience he had was literally of the fires of Hell itself where people are burning away in their own individual furnace and prevented from getting

How to Find Your Voice As a Nonfiction Writer?

They want to sound like no one else, to express themselves in a way that thousands or even millions of people will find compelling. Maybe it's unrealistic that any of us will truly sound like no one else, but we like to believe that our writing is a true expression of ourselves. However, if we're honest, we don't have one voice any more than we have one side of ourselves. We act differently in different situations, and speak to our best friend one way and a stranger another. The words we use and our tone of voice change when we address different people. Thus, when we go to find our voice as writers, what we are really looking for is the right voice for the piece. The voice we use is determined by three factors: --What we want to say --What effect we want to have on the reader or readers --Who our readers are Think about it. Let's say you want to complain about something. You will use different language than if you want to express deep gratitude. If

How to Write Sparkling Travel Articles?

There are many masters of the genre who you should study ceaselessly, but there are also some common traps that you want to make sure you steer clear of when you are learning your trade. Think Carefully About Your Structure and Form A lot of writing about exotic places comes about through a self-indulgent need to record our own experiences, but this shouldn't be the fuel for your travel articles. As much as you might want to share the personal details of your last summer holiday, the chances are that no one else will want to read it. Think about the order of the information that you are presenting, the chances are that a linear structure isn't totally appropriate, as you'll need to decide what information to present and what to omit. This is usually just a matter of practice, so as you build up a portfolio you'll be able to see what works and what doesn't. Try to Enliven Your English There are so many well trodden turns of phrase in the English
